June 26, 2011 marks the 5th year of the disappearance of UP Students Karen Empeno and Sherlyn Cadapan who were abducted by the military in Hagonoy, Bulacan in 2006. UP Kilos Na together with other UP organizations and human rights groups will mark the day with a jog/walk around the academic oval to call for the surfacing of Karen, She and all the desaparecidos; in support of the court cases filed by the parents of Karen and She and by the family of Jonas Burgos against military officers involved in their disappearance. The event will also be an opportunity to register our strong opposition to the plan to have dictator Marcos buried with full military honors by remembering the UP students who disappeared during martial law.
